The scope of media sector in Afghanistan has escalated during last one decade. There are hundreds of news organizations wherein thousands of journalists working for disseminating news to the audience across the country. Media play a vital role in educating and informing masses.

Its role is not confined only to make the voice of voiceless reached to the authorities but it gives precious suggestions to the government for assuring good governance in the country but unfortunately due lack of proper training and education in field of journalism the majority of media folks are unaware of modern techniques and innovations in their field hence they are unable to play the role which media is expected for.

Due to the fact that we do not have any powerful news organization that can compete with international news organizations and that can represent Afghanistan on international level, so the world know Afghanistan only for the reasons which are propagated by foreign media. Due to this negative propagation the world only know Afghanistan on security perspective but there is need for a news organization and media professionals that can portray the positive side of Afghans that is peace loving, rich with traditional values and cultures, number of festivals, different tribes, languages and seasons.

With aim to provide well qualified individuals to the media sector, Khurasan University took initiative for establishing a separate faculty for Journalism & Mass Communications in the year 2014. More than hundred students are pursuing their graduation in journalism & Mass Communications in the varsity. The teaching staff is highly qualified and having rich background in journalism profession. They are teaching students about the basic principles and modern techniques in the field of print, electronic and digital media.

د ژورنالیزم څانګه غواړي په هیواد کې د معیاري رسنیز چوپړ د رامنځته کولو لپاره په مسلکي ډول ژورناليستان او رسنیز کارپوهان و روزي، چې په ټولنه کې فکري رغونه رامنځته او پر مټ یي رسنۍ خپل مسؤلیتونه په سم ډول تر سره کړي.

 د ژورنالېزم څانګې ماموریت:

د ژورنالیزم څانګه د نني پیر غوښتنو سره سم  تدریسي محتوا او وړ کادرونو په مرسته داسې اشخاص روزي، چې وکولای شي رسنۍ مو د هېواد ګټو، ملي ستراتیژۍ او اخلاقي معیارونو ته په کتو خپل رسنیز رسالت په سم ډول تر سره او نوښتونه رامنځته کړي.

۱: په مسلکي توګه د عملي او نظري مفاهمو په مرسته د هېواد د بچیانو سالمه روزنه.

۲: د رسنیزې محتوا د کیفیت لواړي لپاره د تدریس د غوره کیفت لپاره اوږد مهاله هڅې.

۳: د نوې او پرمختللې ټکنالوژۍ په مټ د ټولنې وګړي سم او مثبت لورې ته رهنمایي  کول.

۴: په رسنیز ډګر کې د نوښتونو د رامنځته کولو په موخه استادان او محصلین څیړنو ته هڅول.

۵: د غوره تدریسي محتوا په مرسته د ټولنې د وګړیو د پوهې د کچې لوړول.

• Training students about the new techniques and principles in the field of print, electronic and digital media
• Educating students with emergence of new media in the market and its handful utilization while collecting information and news
• Capacity building programs for the working journalists associated with print and electronic media

• Enhancing skills of students in print media that include newspaper, magazine, journal and online newspaper
• Enhancing skills of future journalists in electronic media that include new techniques of radio reporting, modern ways of TV and online reporting
• Arrangements for practicing the theory learnt under the supervision of own teachers inside the campus- this include; practical work in Khurasan Journal for students of Print Media, practical work in Khurasan Campus Off-Air Studios for Radio and TV for students of Electronic Media
• Arranging study visits for students to media organization across Afghanistan
• Arranging conferences and seminars inside the campus for enhancing the knowledge of students
• Facilitating group discussions of renowned journalists of the region with journalism students
