KHURASAN UNIVERSITY, 21st, November: Khurasan University (KU) Sports Gala-2015, the mega event in the history of Afghanistan ever arranged by a private sector university, concluded today Saturday here at sports ground of KU in the presence of Afghanistan national cricket players Mr. Karim Sadiq, Aftab Alam, Najibullah tarakai, Batin Shah and Salman Dowalatzai.

Concluding ceremony was arranged to motivate players and students by distributing prizes among them by KU management. The event was attended by hundreds of students, KU management, teachers, guests, sportspersons, journalists and civil society members. Week long gala included eight games namely Cricket, Volley Ball, Badminton, table tennis, tug-of-war (Rasakashi), Khosai, Running and stone throwing were played during the gala in which one-thousand students took participation.

Addressing the ceremony President KU Mr. Ahmad Tariq Kamal stressed over need of such events and compared importance of co-curriculum activities with curricular activities while adding “Afghanistan was going through rebuilding phase after four-decade long wars; the war had not only affected Afghanistan physically but psychologically and such events can play vital role in psychological development of Afghan nation”.

He vowed arranging more such programs to address the need of students as according to him, students were witnessed highly encouraged and delighted while participating in the event. It is worth mentioning that President KU was making frequent visits to the ground to motivate students in every game.

Afghanistan National Hero and shining star of Afghanistan Cricket Mr. Karim Sadiq highly welcomed the initiative of KU for arranging such events. He went further to add that Afghanistan was going to challenging problems which can only be fought with the help of education and KU services in this regard were never deniable, he asserted.

Karim Sadiq said that educational institutions were considering sports as their active part of their programs while adding “I am thankful to KU for introducing this culture in Afghanistan”. Talking of Khurasan University, he said that KU was among leading universities of Afghanistan which has very much talented and highly educated faculty staff. He went further to add “My brothers and cousins were students here KU and my most friends preferring KU over other universities such as those of Kabul, Islamabad, India and of other countries”.

Mr. Karim Sadiq and his younger brother Aftab Alam the young stars of Afghanistan Cricket also played in the final match of cricket tournament which made thousands of students and players motivated while seeing national heroes from the nearer corner. The event was organized with the partnership of Etisalat Afghanistan and with collaboration of Kabul Energy Drinks, Ceeco Center Jalalabad and Nestle Afghanistan.

170 students receive one-year diplomas in English language JALALABAD: At least 170 prospected students completed diplomas in English language at English Department, Khurasan University. The graduates were awarded with diplomas by President of university Mr. Ahmad Tariq Kamal in the first graduation ceremony on Wednesday May 4, 2016. Where almost 150 male and 20 female students were awarded diplomas by chief guest honorable President of the university. This momentous occasion was attended by a large number of graduates' family members, guests, media persons and DEL students. English Department expresses its heartfelt congratulations to its students on their graduation and wishes them all to achieve more academic success in their lifespan.

The Office of International Relations, Khurasan University has sent its two distinguished students to the Republic of Turkey in the Cultural Exchange Program.

Khurasan University and the Ataturk University Turkey are in mutual understanding for a number of academic programs. These programs include cultural exchange, students, teachers exposure visits, scholarship for Afghan students as well as mutual degrees program.

Khurasan University has a number of other mutual programs with leading international universities. These universities include Ataturk University and HATIT University Turkey, Islamic International University Pakistan,  PUTRA University Malaysia and Delta University Canada.

The Human Resource Management department provided a one-day seminar to the administrative units of Khurasan University. The one-day seminar on Office Automation Uses in organizations was delivered by Mashal Rokhan, a lecturer in Computer Science, under the guidance of the HR department. The seminar was held in the presence of Dr. Obaidullah Shinwari  Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Baheer Zaland Dean  Faculty of Economics and Zabihullah Danish Human Resources Manager. A special fundraising campaign was set up on Khurasan University campus. Students from Khurasan University donated as much financial aid as they could as a contribution to their flood-inflicted countrymen. Fundraising campaigners said, in such fragile situations, a small amount of donation can make a huge difference in the lives of those who have incurred losses due to flooding. Campaigners also expressed that the donations will be distributed by the students themselves to those most in need in the flood-hit country. It is worth mentioning that the students of Khurasan University have already conducted similar campaigns for humanitarian cause and sympathy with the people in Afghanistan

In the series of Talk 20 programs at Khurasan University, “Attitude is everything” was discussed. The topic, presented by Sir Naeemullah Amani, was attended by a number of students from different faculties at Khurasan University. While attending the Talk, participants requested that such programs should be expanded since they make a positive impact in their lives and community.

The Deputy Governor of Nangarhar, Tamim Arif Momand, received a letter of appreciation entitled “The Pride of Khurasan University”. Tamim Arif Momand, a graduate of the master's program at Khurasan University, currently serves as Deputy Governor for the Province.

 During the ceremony, the rector of Khurasan University, Dr Ahmad Tariq Kamal said that Mr. Tamim Arif is a talented young man, a national thinker, and a patriot personality. Dr. Ahmad Tariq Kamal added that it is an immense moment of pride that Khurasan University educates such academic experts who become capable of serving the country and its people.

Nangarhar's Deputy Governor, Tamim Arif Momand, also thanked Khurasan University and said that they would extend cooperation with all academic institutions, including Khurasan University to elevate the educational level in the country particularly in the eastern region

The Summer School Program, organized virtually by University of Malaya, ended successfully at Khurasan University. Many students from different faculties of Khurasan University participated in the event and expressed their pleasure for being part of the academically excellent program. According to them, speakers from different countries delivered imperative lectures on “Multiculturalism in Asia and Europe: Issues & Challenges” which they found it highly useful and practical. 

It should be noted that the event was formerly performed on campus, but the participation process has now been undertaken online due to the concerns of Covid-19 virus transmission.

A welcome gathering was held for the new students of 25th Batch of the Faculty of Economics of Khurasan University. The meeting was attended by Ihsanullah Shorish, Dean Faculty of Economics, administrative officials and a number of lecturers.

On behalf of the university, Dr. Obaidullah Shinwari, Academic Vice Chancellor for Khurasan University, welcomed the new students and recommended them to put in their untiring efforts in this important academic phase of their lives.

 Ihsanullah Shorish, Dean Faculty of Economics, also welcomed the new students and pledged to provide them with all the necessary academic facilities which are imperative to their academic upbringing. Adding more, he reminded the new students that in order to achieve their goals and aspirations, they must have a specific approach and set specific goals.

According to Shorish, students should not only commute to university for obtaining a degree but should attend the classes with full enthusiasm to get education to shape their future. It is worth noting that during the gathering, some of the students of the Faculty of Economics also received certificates of appreciation

A welcome gathering was held for the new students of Computer Science Faculty at Khurasan University. Nasrullah Khan Kashmir, dean faculty, welcomed the new students and acknowledged their enrollment in Khurasan University. Dr. Obaidullah Shinwari, Academic Vice Chancellor, welcoming the new students on behalf of the university, said that in this important phase of academic life and students should put in untiring efforts to make this long journey a success.  According to him, the new students have chosen Khurasan University for better education, so Khurasan University also pledges to amplify the efforts to further improve their academic facilities.

Nasrullah Kashmir Khan, during the gathering, said “I am extremely proud that the graduates of Computer Sciences are working in high positions in different parts of the country and in this way they are able to serve the people.”

The meeting was also attended by Shafiullah Shinwari, Dean of Computer Science Faculty, Hewad University, and Kabul, who delivered a speech of assurance and pride to the new students.

He expressed pride in his speech for having graduated from Khurasan University and is now engaged in service to the countrymen

A number of students from various faculties of Khurasan University attended an imperative seminar titled as “COVID-19 and Beyond: The Journey” which was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia at the University of Malaya on September 7, 2021. At the start of the event, the moderator for the session welcomed all the participants and thanked Khurasan University for its active involvement in their virtual events. 

During the seminar, the key speakers discussed covid-19, its challenges, and its impact on education, as well as how students can align their learning in the midst of the prevailing pandemic. Similarly, a few learning strategies were also highlighted that students can deploy during virtual studies. At the end of the event, the questions and answers platform was accessed to the participants which allowed them to discuss regional Covid-19 challenges and ask questions pertinent to the seminar contents. 

Khurasan University gratefully acknowledges all of its national and international partners for providing such fantastic learning opportunities to our students and assures them of our long-term academic collaboration.

The Office of International Affairs of Khurasan University, in partnership with the Journal of Practical Studies in Education, United Kingdom, and Open Educational College, will host a key 5-days international research methodology seminar for scholars, academicians, and postgraduate students. It is worth mentioning that Khurasan University is working determinedly with its international partner’s network to hold similar seminars in order to foster research culture in Afghanistan.

The Student Career Development Office (SCDO), in collaboration with Afghan for Progressive Thinking Organization, held a debate session among the students of Khurasan University from various faculties. During the session, two teams were formed. One supported the motion while the other acted as opposition. Each participant had 5 minutes to express their thoughts on the motion and 1 minute to refute the criticism. The debate proceeded effectively and the members of the debate club argued logically by presenting their viewpoints on the motion in accordance with the debate rules. The jury team included Mr. Manan Momand and Khadija Azizi as well as the observers who consisted of Mr. Abidullah Momand, Dean Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences, and Mr. Ahmad Riaz Bilal Zai, the Head of SCDO declared the motion supporters as winners of the debate. At the end of the event, the APT coordinator and co-assistant provided constructive feedback to the participants in order to improve future debates. 

It is worth mentioning that the Student Career Development Office has previously organized similar extracurricular activities aimed at building students' capacity.

A number of batch 14 students from the Civil Engineering Department successfully defended their projects at the defense gathering, which was held on September 14, 2021, at the Khurasan University auditorium. The event was attended by the relevant academicians and officials of the Civil Engineering Department. During the gathering, Mr. Nasser Agha, the dean faculty, congratulated the students on the successful defenses of their projects and strongly advised them to maintain drastic sincerity and transparency while serving this nation. Similarly, he wished them a prosperous future career and assured them that Khurasan University will exercise its determined efforts to provide employment opportunities through its Career Development Office.

The Department of Computer Science convened a research seminar on writing study proposals for a number of students at Khurasan University on September 15, 2021. The seminar, which was delivered by Dr. Irfanullah Rasooli, revolved around a variety of imperative topics including Introduction to Research, Introduction to Research Proposal, Importance of Research Proposal, Choosing Research Topic, Writing Problem Statement, and other relevant contents were profoundly discussed.

In his address to the participants, Mr. Nasrullah Khan Kashmir, Dean Faculty of Computer Science, stated that research is a must-have skill that every student should possess in order to academically stand out and contribute to the creation of new knowledge. Similarly, Mr. Kashmir strongly advised the students to expand their research knowledge by participating in future similar sessions.

At the end of the seminar, students were given the opportunity to ask questions about the research proposal in order to clear up their confusion. The attendees also expressed great pleasure about the provision of the research seminar and requested the department to organize similar events which help them improve their academic and professional skills.

It is worth mentioning that Khurasan University has been endeavoring to uplift the students’ academic capacity both locally and internationally by providing outstanding extracurricular events.

Khurasan University initiated a one-week international research virtual seminar in collaboration with the Journal of Practical Studies in Education, Foundation for Evidence-Based Development and Open Educational College. On its inaugural day, the Head of International Affairs from Khurasan University moderated the seminar and expressed heartfelt gratitude to all the global participants who registered to be part of this academic event. At the same time, Mr. Ahmad Riaz Bilal Zai thanked the resource persons from partner institutions for their untiring efforts in joint organization of this mega event. 

Later, Dr. Mehrunnisa Pathan, the key speaker for today’s session imparted imperative information about qualitative research including methods, data collection tools, analysis techniques and research philosophies. The first day of the seminar lasted for one and a half hours and concluded with participants’ questions and answers session. 

Similarly, Mr. Abidullah Momand, Dean Faculty of Humanities, Associate Professor Ali Ahmad Kazimi, and Abdul Qayoum Safi were among the academicians who attended the seminar as KU members and attendees. 

It is worth mentioning that Khurasan University has previously organized similar international academic events aimed at developing the academicians' capacity and promoting research culture in our community.

The Department of Economics organized an academic seminar to the students of Bachelor in Business Administration about writing a business plan. At the start of the seminar, Mr. Ihsanullah Shorish, Dean Faculty, delivered imperative remarks about the significance of having a documented plan for business initiatives. As part of his words, Mr. Shorish stated, “Business plan is what makes an initiative a success in this highly competitive market”. Later, Dr. Saidal Khan who was the key speaker for the event, discussed the essential steps in writing a practical business plan. The seminar mainly centered on the following topics:

What is a business plan?
Why do entrepreneurs have to write plans for business opportunity?
What are the key marketing strategies for business plan? 
How to outline management personnel in a business plan?
How to incorporate a targeted market segment in business plan?

It should be noted that the seminar was held for students in order to improve their academic capacity as well as to guide them in developing plans for their upcoming Khurasan Bazar event. It is also worth mentioning that the Faculty of Economics has previously organized similar events for students in order to improve their practical business knowledge.

Today, the Department of Economics held a practical session to a number of students on rehearsing the analytical brainstorming, a technique for stimulating entrepreneurial creativity. At the beginning of the session, Ihsanullah Shorish, Dean Faculty of Economics, welcomed all the participants and highlighted the significance of practical academic events in a student’s life. Similarly, the key speaker for the event, Sir Ahmad Riaz Bilal Zai, delivered a presentation on brainstorming which centered on the following topics: 

What is analytical brainstorming?
What are the steps involved in analytical brainstorming?
How brainstorming sparks creativity?
The rules for practicing brainstorming in organizational setup?

Later, the students were given an opportunity to practically brainstorm about a prevalent social problem. They were given 45 minutes to practice the rules and come up with creative ideas to present. 

At the end of the event, students expressed their appreciation to the Department of Economics for their tireless efforts in providing a practical academic event to help them grow.

Cognitive Exchange, a unique platform for public speaking and critical thinking, began at Khurasan University. The virtual program is a full-fledged course that teaches students both theoretical and practical knowledge in three levels on how to become influential speakers. In order to foster practical sessions, Khurasan University has designated its auditorium for students’ practice and skill-building rehearsals. Cognitive Exchange has been collaborating with Khurasan University for the past two years, graduating two cohorts so far. 

Khurasan University collaborates closely with a number of international partners who continue to support Afghan students in both online and on-campus studies, which has resulted in positive outcomes for students.

The International Research Seminar which convened in collaboration with Open Educational College, Journal of Practical Studies in Education, UK, and Foundation for Evidence-Based Development successfully ended on 26 September 26, 2021. The one-week seminar primarily centered on the following key research learning areas:

Introduction to Research 
Qualitative vs. Quantitative Research 
Data Collection Tools 
Case studies in Research 
Research Philosophies
Imperativeness of Research in 21st century 
On the concluding day, Mr. Ahmad Riaz Bilal Zai, the event coordinator, expressed gratitude to the organizers, partners, participants, and resource persons for their orderly and enthusiastic participation in all seminar sessions, while also requesting long-term support from collaborators in organizing similar events in the future. Similarly, Dr. Morve Roshan, the leading member of the seminar, also thanked Khurasan University for active involvement in the international academic events. 

It is worth mentioning that Khurasan University is committed to the principles of internationalization and will work hard to provide additional similar events in the future.

Khurasan University has officially launched Khurasan Bazar, an initiative aimed at improving students' skills and fostering practical knowledge. This gigantic event featured 15 exhibitors who displayed a wide range of goods such as homemade foods, fruits, beverages, books, computer accessories, lottery tickets, and air-gun aiming. At the beginning of the event, Mr. Ihsanullah Shorish, the Dean Faculty of Economics delivered imperative remarks about the significance of having practical knowledge. He stated “As a student, you can’t succeed in this competitive business world unless you have practical understanding of theories”. Additionally, Dr. Obaidullah Shinwari, Vice Chancellor for Khurasan University also addressed the audience. During his words, he described the event as both an academic and entertaining for students and strongly advised them to use marketing concepts when selling the goods to consumers at Khurasan Bazar. 

After the speeches, the inaugural ribbon was jointly cut by KU officials & academicians and the exhibitors practically began selling the goods. The event progressed successfully from morning to evening session and things went in an orderly manner. The public attendees who were part of the event expressed gratitude to Khurasan University for exercising determined efforts in organizing Khurasan Bazar and considered the experience as unique one. Similarly, students from economics faculty expressed sincere appreciation from university for providing a great platform which enabled them to transform theory into practice. They requested KU to hold similar events as they help them develop their leadership, confidence and communication skills.
 
Khurasan University is committed at students’ capacity building in terms of practical skills development and transforming theory into practice and pledges to work determinedly to provide practice oriented events in the future. It is also worth mentioning that the Faculty of Economics has previously convened similar events to uplift students’ academic abilities.

The Faculty of Computer Science organized an appreciation gathering to acknowledge the efforts of position holders on 30th September 2021 at the campus auditorium. The event began with the recitation of Holy Quran which followed by the remarks of Dr. Obaidullah Shinwari, Vice Chancellor and Mr.  Nasrullah Khan Kashmir, the Dean Faculty for Computer Science. Dr. Shinwari, during his address to the students remarked “Understanding your responsibilities is what causes us to appreciate you and stand you out in crowd.” Dr. Obaidullah congratulated all the BCS toppers and wished them a successful academic life. He further stated that every student can be intelligent and unique provided that they put in efforts and follow a scheduled life. 

Similarly, Mr. Nasrullah Kashmir, by congratulating toppers, pledged that he would exercise all the possible endeavors to enhance teaching methodologies and to provide additional academic facilities in computer science faculty. During his words, Mr. Kashmir strongly advised all Afghan students to change society for the better which is only possible when they embark on education. At the end of the event, Mr. Tawhidyar also shared his thoughts with students. Tawhidyar added” Through computer science, you can serve Islam, society and Afghanistan.” 

It is worth mentioning that the Faculty of Computer Science convened a similar event last year to commend the academic efforts of workaholic students.

On September 29, 2021, the Faculty of Humanities hosted a one-day academic seminar on writing literature reviews for students of English Language Literature and Journalism at the campus auditorium. Mr. Zabihullah Arab, the seminar resource person, provided an in-depth explanation of the following essential contents:

What is a literature review?
Why is it imperative to write a literature review?
How does literature review help in the identification of the research gap?
How research questions and objectives are derived from literature?
The key steps in conducting a literature review?

The session was also attended by Dr. Obaidullah Shinwari, Vice Chancellor for KU, Mr. Abidullah Momand, the Dean Faculty, and academicians from the departments of journalism and English literature. In conclusion of the seminar, beneficiaries of the event expressed pleasure and considered the seminar as helpful and practical for the elevation of their academic capacity. 

At the same time, attendees requested the faculty of humanities to convene similar useful seminars in the future. It is to be said that the Faculty of Humanities has previously organized similar events and will work hard to hold extracurricular and knowledge-building sessions in the future.

د ياد سيمينار په پیل کې محصلينو ته د (Proposal) په (Writing) باندې رڼا واچول شوه.

ورپسې د (Final Year Project Proposal) په مختلفو برخو لکه (Introduction, Objectives, Current System, Causes of the Selected Project, Methodology, Project Scope, Tools and Technology, and references) موضوعاتو اړوند مفصل بحث وشو.

همدارنګه په کمپيوټر ساينس رِشته کې د يو (Proposal) د پورته يادو شويو برخو د ليکلو لارې چارې د عملي بېلګو په ورکولو سره واضح شوې.

د يادونې وړ ده، چې د سيمينار په پاى کې د دوکتور پامير شمس لخوا د ځينو محصلينو پوښتنو ته ځوابونه هم ورکړل شول.
